Rubina Francis, the Paralympian shooter and Asian Games medalist, was born with Clubfoot in both legs, presenting emotional and financial challenges for her family. Despite external perceptions, she demonstrates resilience and an unwavering spirit. At the age of 16 in 2015, Rubina embarked on her shooting career, amassing an impressive collection of 20 international medals over the past nine years. In a significant achievement, she fulfilled her dream of standing on the podium and raising her country's flag at the Hangzhou Asian Paragames in 2022. These accomplishments have further fueled Rubina's determination to forge ahead and continue her upward trajectory.
About Pranav Soorma:
Pranav Soorma, who had a serious accident resulting in a spinal injury at the age of 16 in 2011, found himself paralyzed waist below, bringing his life to a standstill. Learning about the Asian Paragames, he decided to push his limits and rediscover a meaningful life. Each training session and gym workout became a testament to his determination and vitality. In 2019, Pranav achieved a significant milestone at the Beijing Grand Prix World Para Athletics, followed by securing a gold medal at the Hangzhou Asian Paragames in 2022. Since then, he has remained steadfast in his journey, never looking back.
About Ankur Dhama:
Ankur Dhama, a remarkable athlete from Sonipat, overcame the challenges of blindness to emerge as a shining star in the world of para-athletics. Born into a farmer family, Ankur lost his vision at a tender age of six years. He moved to Delhi and enrolled in a school for the visually impaired on Lodhi Road. Despite the initial prognosis from doctors, he defied the odds and emerged as a stellar para-athlete. In the 2014 Asian Para Games, Dhama secured one silver and two bronze medals, showcasing his innate talent. Though faced with an injury setback in the 2016 Paralympics, he bounced back triumphantly. In the 2022 Asian Para Games, Ankur clinched two gold medals. His stellar achievements continued in the 2023 Paralympic Games, where he dominated the 1500m and 5000m events, securing 2 gold medals. Ankur Dhama's journey is a story of bravery, determination, and a relentless pursuit of excellence.
About Dharmendra:
Dharmendra Gurjar, hailing from Jhajharpura, Jamoora, Karauli(Rajasthan), is a notable figure in para-athletics. He secured a bronze medal in cross country in 2021 and clinched two gold medals in the 1500m and 3000m events at the 2022 State level competitions. Currently, he plays a crucial role as the guide for Ankur Dhama, the accomplished para-athlete. Under Dharmendra's guidance, Ankur achieved remarkable success, winning two gold medals at Paralympics. Dharmendra Gurjar's expertise and support contribute significantly to Ankur Dhama'striumphs on the Paralympic stage.
